Best Photoshop course in Singapore: how to choose (2026)

Short answer: if you are new to Photoshop and need to edit, retouch and composite photos for work, a trainer-led, SkillsFuture/WSQ-funded course is the most cost-effective option in Singapore. Mastering Photoshop is 21 hours, and with 70% funding you pay about S$271.05 (incl. GST). But Photoshop is not always the right tool: logos and print artwork suit Illustrator, and quick social or marketing visuals are faster in Canva. If you only need occasional edits, free tutorials are enough.

Which design tool do you need: Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva or video?

What you need to make Best fit Course length
Photo editing, retouching, compositing, web graphics Photoshop 21 hours
Logos, icons, vector illustrations, print-ready artwork Illustrator 14 hours
Quick social posts, presentations and marketing visuals, no design background Canva 16 hours
Short-form or promo video Video editing course 24 hours
Storytelling with AI-generated visuals Generative AI visuals course 16 hours
Occasional personal edits Free tutorials and free tools A few hours

Photoshop works with pixels (photos and raster images). Illustrator works with vectors (shapes that scale to any size without losing sharpness), which is why logos are usually drawn there. Canva is template-driven and quicker to learn, but gives you less control over fine photo work. Many designers use Photoshop and Illustrator together.

What to check before you book

  • Funding. SSG-funded (WSQ or SkillsFuture-registered) courses carry a course reference starting with TGS. Singapore Citizens aged 40+ and SME-sponsored staff get 70% off the course fee; other eligible Citizens and PRs get 50%. SkillsFuture Credit, SFEC and UTAP can cover more of the balance.
  • Hands-on time. Look for courses where you retouch and composite real images in class, not a lecture with demos.
  • Photoshop version and AI features. Photoshop now includes generative AI features such as Generative Fill, which need an Adobe subscription. Ask the provider whether they are covered and which version you will practise on.
  • Software access. Photoshop is subscription software. Ask what you will use in class and whether you will need your own licence afterwards.
  • Laptop and class times. Some courses expect you to bring your own laptop; ask.
  • Trainer. Ask who teaches and how learners rate them.

Other ways to learn Photoshop

  • Adobe’s own tutorials (free, on Adobe’s website): good for individual techniques and for trying new features. No trainer to check your work.
  • Polytechnic and institute short courses, and other WSQ training centres: several Singapore providers run Photoshop and wider graphic design courses, some longer and more portfolio-oriented. Compare hours, funding and what you build in class.
  • Udemy, Coursera, LinkedIn Learning and YouTube: self-paced video courses from overseas instructors. Cheap or free, but not eligible for SSG course-fee funding in Singapore and there is no one to review your work.
