Best Python course for beginners in Singapore: how to choose (2026)

This guide is published by Intellisoft. We run several of the courses recommended here. · Last updated 11 October 2026

Short answer: if you have never programmed before, start with a 2-day hands-on Python fundamentals course that is SkillsFuture/WSQ-funded. Python Programming Fundamentals (16 hours) costs about S$234 after 70% funding, and about S$354 after 50% funding. If your goal is analysing data rather than learning to code in general, and you already know Excel, a data analysis course with pandas and charts (Analyze and Visualize Data With Python, 16 hours) is the better second step. If you only want to try Python out, free self-paced tutorials are enough.

What to check before you book

  • Funding. SSG-funded (WSQ or SkillsFuture-registered) courses carry a course reference starting with TGS. Singapore Citizens aged 40+ and SME-sponsored staff get 70% off the course fee; other eligible Citizens and PRs get 50%. SkillsFuture Credit, SFEC and UTAP can cover more of the balance.
  • Level. A beginner course should assume no programming background. A data analysis course will assume you are comfortable with spreadsheets. Check the stated audience before booking.
  • Hands-on time. Look for courses where you write and run code in class, not a lecture with slides.
  • What you will build. Ask what you will be able to do afterwards: small automation scripts, or analysing a real dataset and producing charts.
  • Laptop and class times. Some courses expect you to bring your own laptop; ask.
  • Trainer. Ask who teaches and how learners rate them.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Python course for beginners in Singapore?

For complete beginners, a trainer-led, SSG-funded fundamentals course is the most cost-effective route. Python Programming Fundamentals (TGS-2026065709) is a 16-hour, 2-day course covering variables, loops, functions, files and simple automation scripts, at S$234 after 70% funding.

Is there a Python course in Singapore that is SkillsFuture claimable?

Yes. Both Python Programming Fundamentals (TGS-2026065709) and Analyze and Visualize Data With Python (TGS-2023018660) are SSG-registered. Singapore Citizens aged 25+ can use SkillsFuture Credit to pay the nett fee after funding.

How much does a Python course cost in Singapore after funding?

For Python Programming Fundamentals: S$234 with 70% funding, S$354 with 50% funding, or S$654 without funding (all including GST). For Analyze and Visualize Data With Python: S$382.20 with 70% funding, S$578.20 with 50% funding, or S$1,068.20 without funding.

Which Python course is best for data analysis in Singapore?

Analyze and Visualize Data With Python is built for analysts who know Excel. It covers Python, pandas and charting libraries in Jupyter over 16 hours (2 days). If you have never coded before, you may find it easier to take the fundamentals course first.

Is 2 days enough to learn Python?

Enough to get started, not to become fluent. Two days gives you the core building blocks and a first set of scripts or analyses. Fluency comes from using Python on your own work afterwards, so pick a small real task to apply it to straight away.

Should I learn Python, SQL or Power BI first?

It depends on the job. If you mostly pull data from company databases, start with SQL. If you need dashboards for managers, Power BI is quicker to produce results without coding. If you want to automate tasks or do flexible analysis, Python is the more general tool. Many analysts end up using more than one.
