Short answer: if you work in an office, are not a programmer and want to use ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot properly in your day job, a 2-day hands-on, SkillsFuture/WSQ-funded course is the most cost-effective route in Singapore. ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot & New AI Tools for Enhanced Productivity is 16 hours, beginner level, and costs S$292.50 after 70% funding (S$817.50 full fee incl. GST). If you only want to try ChatGPT for personal use, the free tools and tutorials are enough. If your company has rolled out Microsoft 365 Copilot, a 1-day Copilot course fits better.

What to check before you book
- Funding. SSG-funded (WSQ or SkillsFuture-registered) courses carry a course reference starting with TGS. Singapore Citizens aged 40+ and SME-sponsored staff get 70% off the course fee; other eligible Citizens and PRs get 50%. SkillsFuture Credit, SFEC and UTAP can cover more of the balance.
- Hands-on time. AI tools are learned by prompting, checking the output and trying again. Look for courses where you work on your own kind of tasks in class, not a slide presentation about AI.
- Which tools. Check that the course covers the tools your employer allows. Some companies permit only Copilot, others also allow ChatGPT or Gemini.
- Data and confidentiality. A good course explains what you should not paste into a public AI tool, and how to check AI answers for errors.
- Up to date. AI tools change every few months. Ask which tools and versions the course covers.
- Laptop and class times. Some courses expect you to bring your own laptop; ask.
- Trainer. Ask who teaches and how learners rate them.

Other ways to learn AI tools
- Free chatbots (ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Claude): all have free tiers. Spend an hour on real work tasks and you will learn a lot. No trainer, no funding needed, but you may miss good prompting habits and safe-use rules.
- Vendor tutorials and guides from OpenAI, Google and Microsoft: free and accurate on features, but generic.
- Coursera, Udemy and LinkedIn Learning: self-paced video courses from overseas instructors. Cheap or subscription-based, but not eligible for SSG course-fee funding in Singapore and there is no one to check your work.
